Multi-vendor Marketplace
Wistful Hands is a multi-vendor marketplace, meaning that every composer/artist on this site is selling their works at their own rates. Wistful Hands takes a fair commission from each artist for the use of the platform and the free services we provide. No artist pays anything up front to use the services we provide, with the exception of music transcription.
Refunds and Returns
There are no refunds or returns. There are only revisions to custom transcription services.
Wistful Hands is a sheet music store that sells sheet music written by composers. It also provides a music transcription service that creates sheet music and mockups for music composers and artists. All products are digital and are transferred digitally in the form of high-quality PDFs, Music XML files, MIDI files, JPEGs, PNGs, mp3s, and other visual and audio files. These types of files are very easy to duplicate, and because of that we cannot accept returns. When it really comes down to it, you are not so much paying for the products themselves as much as you are paying for the time and skill we put in to transcribing and creating the sheet music.Â
If you are unhappy with your transcription product, please contact Wistful Hands and we will work to sort things out free of charge in the form of revisions (within reason) and put a smile back on your face!
If you notice anything wrong or displeasing about a sheet music purchase, there are no guarantees that we can make an edit for you. Our artists do not solely work with Wistful Hands for their transcription. Some artists use our service, some artists use other services, and some artists transcribe their own music. But contact Wistful Hands anyway, and we will reach out to those who created the sheet music and see what we can do to make a correction. We screen all of our music for quality.
One last note: Please be aware that in general, not all sheet music follows its audio recorded counterpart note-for-note. There are oftentimes many recorded performances of the same piece. And lots of artists never play the same song the same way everytime.
Transcription Revisions
Revisions on your products are limited to the confines of your original request and the price quote provided by Wistful Hands.
For example: If your original request was for sheet music containing a single instrument, you cannot expect a revision to include additional instruments. If you do, you will be quoted a higher price for the additional instrument(s).
If you continue to request revisions after a reasonable number of tries and we feel that the project is going in circles, we will give you an ultimatum to choose a stopping point.

Artists
Copyright (for Artists)
Artists with Wistful Hands must own 100% of the copyright for the works they sell on this site. Wistful Hands is not responsible for copyright infringement relating to any piece of sheet music sold on our site. Any liability and legal responsibility in that regard rests solely on the artist/vendor selling the work that infringed on another artist’s copyright.
If you are truly the original composer and performer of your music, your are likely safe to sell your sheet music on Wistful Hands’ website. HOWEVER, we are not lawyers and do not provide legal advice of any kind, so if you are unsure about copyright law we ask that you do your own research.
Non-Exclusive Contract
Wistful Hands uses a non-exclusive contract. This means you can sell your music anywhere else you like.
No Fees for Services (except transcription)
Aside from our music transcription service…
Wistful Hands does not charge any up-front fees for allowing you to sell sheet music on our platform, marketing your music to the world, entering into our artist competitions, and being promoted on our Spotify playlists. However, we do take a fair commission for every sheet music sale you make.
**DO NOT give money to anyone claiming to be Wistful Hands. We will never ask you for money. The only exception is if you take advantage of our music transcription service and we send you an invoice.**
Commission
For the use of Wistful Hands’ services, we take a commission of every sheet music sale. This is to continue supporting you, the artist, by advertising and keeping the site up. It is also to help support those running the site. It’s a lot of work.
Currently, the Wistful Hands commission rate is as follows:
 – Products $6.75 USD and under: 45%. Artists keep 55% of every sale.
 – Products over $6.75 USD: $1 + 30%. Artists keep (70% – $1) of every sale.
By selling with Wistful Hands you understand that the commission rate can change. It may go up, it may go down. It may change to a fixed combined commission system (ex: $1.00 + 30%). If you win an artist competition, part of your prize may be a month of lower commission (not guaranteed). Do not expect our commission rate to stay the same at any time.
If the commission rate ever changes, we will let you know in advance!
Income Reporting, Taxes, and International Sales
Wistful Hands sells digital products internationally. We collect taxes from the consumer on digital products purchased by the consumer.
We report each artists’ income, and some artists may have to pay taxes on their earnings depending on how much they make in a calendar year. Stay up to date with your country’s and/or state’s tax laws to know if you must pay taxes on your income.
It is crucial for all artists to consult with a tax professional or seek advice from an international tax expert who can assess their specific situation and provide guidance on their U.S. or international tax obligations. Tax experts will be able to provide accurate advice based on the artists’ country of residence and the applicable tax regulations and treaties.
Artist Competitions
Every now and then we will host a Wistful Hands Artist Competition. These competitions are designed to encourage Wistful Hands Artists to think about new ways of writing music, pushing their creativity, increasing their output in a set amount of time, and building friendships with health competition.
Competitions will be judged by a panel of non-competing artists and Wistful Hands customers. This configuration may change in future.
